using brs dosers with apex osc?

Hey guys, ust got 2 dosers from BRS. the 1.1 ml per minute. and im setting up through the apex jr. i read the guide and i beleive i have this locked down. just want to clear some stuff out.

is this operation right?

i want to run ALK 1 minute every hour from 12am till 4am and if pH is over 8.40 itll shut off. and the total of alk i will be dosing is 4.4ml?

The Alk looks ok, but Ca is not quite right. Change the 10:00 to 9:59, otherwise you will clip the first dose. This is because the Time command is accurate to the whole minute. So the command as you have it wouldn't be FALSE until 10:01 and the OSC command would be OFF at that point. Also, you can delete the Set OFF from both outlets. They are not needed since the OSC command generates both ON/OFF states.

Yes, but only on the 2nd time value in the If Time statements. Like you have done here:

If Time 4:00 to 23:59

If you are just starting dosing, there are multiple approaches, but the easiest IMO is to use a reef chemistry calculator to determine what you need to add to get the Ca, alk, and Mg levels on target. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reef-calculator or http://reef.diesyst.com/flashcalc/flashcalc.html

Then use BRS' suggested starting doses based on the type of livestock.

You then need to figure out if you need to increase or decrease the daily dosage of the supplements based on periodic (i.e.) weekly test results in order to maintain constant levels, and adjust the programing accordingly.

If you are already dosing manually and already know how much to add daily, it's fairly straightforward to program the Apex to dose the necessary amounts of supplements.
