Using lab conductivity meter to monitor salinity?

Hi,

May i check with you if it is possible to get one of those used lab conductivity meter on ebay to monitor my tank's salinity? Any special requirement on the probe to be used as it will be submerge continuously in the tank?

If it can measure in the range of 53 mS/cm, it would work nicely. that is what I use.

I would not leave one permanently submerged in a reef aquarium. As stuff deposits on it, the observed conductivity will decline and the usefulness of the reading will decline.
