using magnesium in calcium reactor

Hi guys,

I'm having a hard time keeping mag levels up in a very heavy demanding 210 reef. I've read some people are using zeo mag in their calcium reactors. Do you do this and what are your experiences?

I did it before (for several months) and it worked perfectly to keep my Mg levels up without any other dosing. Eventually I stopped and I found that my Mg levels dropped pretty quickly without monitoring and dosing. So I'd say that the Zeo mg crystals work as advertised. I have recently bought more.

I started using this method in the last three months and I found that matching the solubility point of the media with the ZeoMag or now, NeoMag was the magic that needed to occur to be successful. I was using ARM media which has a high ph to soluabilize(ph 6.9) This was not a low enough ph to dissolve the ZeoMag or Brightwell Aquatics NeoMag that I had been trying to use. I switched to Rowalith C+ and have found that running it at a ph of 6.4 which seems consistent with manufactor recommendations on its use, dissolves the Brightwell Aquatics NeoMag perfectly for my system. I did not have success with the ARM media and either of the two products. Others may argue other experiences, but I found matching calcium media to magnesium media produced the best result for my system.

Aquacare Turbo Mag from Premium Aquatics is the same thing as Zeo Mag. Very good product. 1 Inch on the top of my Korallith and ARM medias mixed great results.

Just running a 1inch layer on the media is fine, no mixing the two together?

i added time ago aprox 5% of mg whit the ARM media in my reactor, since i adeed i have to increase the Co2 almost +50%, i don`t knew if was the mg crystals or not, it could be?
