just curious, was bored and never thought about checking the tds in my tank. it comes out to around 940. is this even correct with salt in it ? and is there a number when you dont have enought minerals and things in your saltwater ?

Your tank water... you dissolved salt in it right? 35ppt right? So if the tds meter could read that high it should read 35,000ppm on your tank water. But your TDS meter can't read that high and the measurement confuses it. The number is of no use to you in that case.

TDS stands for total dissolved solids. Salt most definitely counts as a dissolved solid.

You know how people measure salinity with a conductivity probe. That's all a TDS meter is except it is made for reading a much lower range.
