I had a problem with free floating algae. I put an uv filter on for a couple of weeks and it has cleared up perfectly. My question now though is should I leave the uv on and if so how much, a couple of hours a day, only when I need it, or what? Thanks for your guys opinions.

Most of the people I know that run them run them all the time. I do not know of any study out there to refer too reguarding this question. I do know there is a big sway in opinion out there for and against them, but there is no facts in these aurguments. I guess it comes down to what works for you? If all is clear, unplug it and see what happens, if it tends to come back, plug it bacl in
