UV Sterilizer ballast?

Hi, I have 3 Gamma UV's laying around with bad ballasts. They do not make them or the parts anymore but say an Emperor Aquatics ballast will work. Well they are @$100 each and I thought there has to be a DIY/After market ballast that can work that isn't quite so expensive.

Any suggestions? I have 2-25W and 1 - 40W and I use them out side for a pond, not all just one.

I am fairly certain that Fulham makes an electronic ballast that will work fine for your application. I have Longhorse ballasts in my DIY CFL lamps that have worked flawlessly for more than 5 years each. They make ballasts for all types of lamps. For example:

The T8/T12 ballasts are around $15 each.

Marine Depot web site indicates that these sterilizers use T5 bulbs. I would look at the actual bulb to be certain, then purchase the appropriate ballast. T5HO ballasts for 40 W lamp look to be about $25.
