I have an 11 watt UV sterilzer that uses a power head to feed water through. It came with a 1100 gph powerhead. Is that too much flow to any good? What do people recommend? I have it in my submersed in my sump.

hi,

here you can see the general guideline for flow and unit size for controlling either "bacteria and algae" or "parasites"

now there are others charts, makers of your uv unit should included it with the unit, at what gph it will kill what particular organism

and doubt it came with a 1100gph pump from the makers, that unit needs max about 150gph anything more and it won't do jack

uv works with radiation, the longer the more it can kill,

that unit is good only for about a 10g tank, what tank size you got,
