Venturi Snorkling...Help Quiet Please

Anyone know a good method to muffle the snorkling sound of the air intake for my skimmer?? This thing is snorkling like crazy and its rather annoying. Please help

Well, one simple trick is to just make the airline really long. Seems to help. Another trick is to get a short segment of PVC with caps on both ends (don't glue). Drill one end open, the other for a airline fitting (1/4" fitting). Stuff with cotton and place on airline.

You can also drill a hole in the floor and drop the airline downstairs.

I just attach an airline to the venturi tube and route it into my 'aquarium stuff' cabinet and wrap the open-end in an old washcloth. Totally silent.

Good idea to put it through the floor. Wouldnt it back syphon when the power goes out? How could you stop that?

I use a Film canister with hole big enough to put an air tube in. The canister has cotton in it and another hole to draw on. Wasy to do, Cheap and effective.
