VHO Actinics - Coralife vs. URI?

I am going to order two 48" VHO 110W Actinic bulbs and need to know if the 48" (VHO, T12) Coralife Actinic 03, 110W are as good as or better than the 48" (VHO, T12) URI - Super Actinic R.

The place I was going to order from is currently out of the URI bulbs, but they have the Coralife bulbs. Should I buy them from somewhere else or are the Coralife bulbs just as good?

The URI bulbs say 100% blue spectrum peaks at 420nm.

The Coralife bulbs say produce the majority of their light in the 400 to 490 nm (blue) range.

Plus the Coralife doesn't say anything about having an internal reflector.

Also, I might just purchase the 46.5" kit w/ the URI 46.5" bulbs if they have them in stock instead. Is there any reason why I shouldn't get the 46.5"?

I would highly reccomend the URI bulbs. They are by far the best actinics out tgere IMO. YOu won't be dissapointed.

I have the URI bulbs with internal reflectors, I would definately go with URI. I have the (4) 110w kit with ARO ballast with switch, plug and play for sale actually, 46.5" exactly what your thinking about ordering, the setup is less then 2-3 months old, I am going with 2x250w mh and some PC's, but if I had the chance, I would keep the VHO's because they don't get very hot, but the lighting is great.... I have them on my 120 right now actually... two super actinics and two super daylights, PM me if you are interested.

I third the URI's. Even though i do not own a vho setup, I've seen tanks that run them with the URI's, and they do not disappoint.
Wait till more people reply, I think the general consensus will be URI's.

This is kinda off the subject but did you sneak into my house and take a pic of my longnose hawk? I have the same magnet in the same part of my tank!

the color is different between uri and coralife 03. URI super actinic color is more blue and purple. while coralife 03 is blue. But i notice that URI super actinic has more bluer color while coralife is a little pale blue. so if you want more blue, go with URI

Here is my tank lit with 2-URI Super Actinics and 2-URI Actinic White for a total of 440W.

Wow, yup, URI, but I only like the actinics. the 50/50 comes out kinda pink.

In my experience, it is the URI AquaSun that has a pink tint to it. The Actinic White 50/50 is very white.

yea, could have been that one. I stuck it back in the box and put it in the closet with all the other stuff i've bought over the years that somehow i didnt really need....

Whoa. I think that is almost too bright :). How does it compare the color compare to Metal Halide?

Thanks!
