VHO and T. Squamosa?

I'm planning on setting up my 90 gal tank w/ VHOs, and I love clams. I know everybody says to keep your clams under MH, but I believe Squamosa clams can tolerate a lil less light. Has anybody tried this with any success?

I've had my squamosa clam in a 75g tank for some time now under 412 watts of PC lighting (2 x 55w actinics, 2 x 55w 67k, and 2 x 96w 10k) and he's been doing great.

It seems as though popular opinion on these forums prefer VHO's over PC's. So I guess it all depends on how much VHO lighting you're giving you squamosa. But like I said, my guy is doing great without MH's.

No problem! My Squamosa has grown almost twice as big since I purchased it. It's been doing great on the sand in my tank.

However, usually online vendors will suggest higher lighting so that the clams will definitely thrive.

BarryO I do think you will be just fine with VHO. How many do you plan on using.
