vibrant reef cleaner work?

i will have to do some research on that. idk if i have any more room in my sump but i will definitely check it out

i did some quick research on ats. i guess i do not understand that if algae can grow on it, why would it not grow on the tank or rocks?. how does it stop growing on the ats and not the whole system?

There are some very long threads in the advanced forum on the ATS. Short answer is that the ATS ideally removes nutrients to the point that only the specialized conditions inside the unit (mainly very high light levels) will be sufficient to grow algae. The reality is that conditions are often not ideal, and you will still see some algae growth inside your tank; thus the need for herbivores.

You grow the algae preferentially on the scrubber. Lights and surface perfect, so it uses the nutrients and nothing grows in the tank

I have not seen any hair algae or any type of macro algae in both tanks since I deployed my ATS's 3 years ago.
