well i started dosing vodka about 5 mo ago and i am very very happy with the results. my corals look better with the exception of my zoas and polops. now i was reading that a lack of vitamin c might be to blame for the lost color/growth of zoas and polops...could i have just found something new to dose that will make my corals happy? i was skeptical about the vodka but it turned out to be a life saver, how about vitamin c????

Some people claim good effects on zoo's with vitamin C, but I'd be surprised if it is as simple as they have a "lack" of vitamin C. Ascorbic acid has a lot of chemical properties that might be causing the effects.

FWIW, if you want to experiment, by all means try it. But realize that there can be drawbacks as well. It crashes ORP, which might play havoc with ozone dosing. It also has caused clear jelly like globs to take over some folks tanks. Too much may also cause a drop in O2 as it is metabolized.

SO now I can split a screwdriver w/ my reef?

:D Except the acidity of the OJ may reduce the pH of your reef.
