Waiting for your clowns to host?

A week in now and my clowns still haven't discovered their RBTA. I know it can take a while...and to just leave them to it, but it's maddening! :mad2:

So, that brings me to this post...
I figure there must be a load of people out there in the same boat and maybe if we all posted pics of our clowns and nems and all concentrate really hard on each others we can collectively will them to host! :D

I'll start...
My RBTA, called "Spaghetti" (reference to an Aqua Teen episode hehe)

hostdamnyou.jpg

(photo doesn’t really do him justice, he’s much brighter in person. The photo makes him look a little bleached but he’s not)

...and my dumb clowns;
The big one; "Nathan Explosion" (yes, yes I know he's a she really) and the lil'en; "Toki Wartooth"

Ok you’ve seen the pics… concentrate REALLY hard (put your hands on the screen if you find it helps)…

Host…HOST…*HOST!*

Good work, they must have felt that! :D

If you have some clowns that are refusing to host please take some pics and tell us about them here. Hopefully we can get make some happy couples! :D
It would also be great to hear from people who have had difficult clowns eventually host (the more pics the better!) to reassure others that it will (probably!) happen. You may post encouragement if yours hosted straight away… but no gloating allowed! ;)

I’m basically trying to setup a feel good thread where we can follow everyone’s eventual hosting success :)

and i even taped a picture of clowns hosting an anemone on the glass in front of the anemone and yeah they still wont come into it

ive been kinda swooshing them with a net towards the anemone and they come so close and have even been touched by the tentacles but they wont swim into it fully!

so me and you are in the same boat my friend

sorry about the bad pics, i had to use my phone bc i dont have my camera with me!

my really nice LTA

you are both trying to get them to host anemones they would not host in the wild.

ellis you tank looks way too young for an anemone

my tank is def young you are correct but my LFS owner is one of my good friends and he wanted me to try one so i made him personally come out and check my tank and he said it was ok and if anything happens to it i can take it back for a refund, i wont let it die but if it starts lookin bad its goin back and so far so good but thanks for the concern!

EllisColes: I have concentrated on your pics and feel confident that they got the msg. Just need some more people to join in and I'm sure it won't take long! :D

GSMguy: Hmmm well that explains a thing or two. Ah well, still glad I went for a BTA before trying anything trickier. Nathan has tried hosting in a Goniopora before so I'm sure he'll dive in eventually... hopefully all the faster from this thread!

Thanks GSM! Funny, I've always been jealous of your beautiful clowns! I was supposed to be getting some guys like yours but the shop sold my reserved ones (I'd named them and everything!) They were so embarrassed they sold me their precious B&W clown from the display tank for the price of a normal one. Bargain! :D Still miss the clowns that got away, I hope they're happy wherever they ended up.

Well I'm still having no luck with my clowns hosting. I think we need some more people touching the screen and focusing. Ooo Nathan moved a little closer then…come on people… “You can do it!”

I'd love to get some input from people who have managed to get clowns to bond with non-natural host anemones too. The longer this goes on the more I worry it might not happen! Pics would be much appreciated!

Patience! :D I can't really remember how long it took. A month maybe? Up until they started laying eggs I rarely could even see them.

GSM you say they are not natural hosts (which I agree with completely) But neither are the deresa/crocea/ and now finger leather that mine have been hosting instead of the RBTA that I have for them.
Here are some older pics of my clowns and nem

so aaarrrghhh check it, i woke up this morning and yep my clown is in my new bta! only one though but its so exciting when it happens dude!

Ellis, looks like you've got Maroon's. They should take to the BTA rather quickly, it's their naturally preferred species.

Also looks like you've got three of them. Not a good idea. One of those clowns will eventually end up being alienated from the group and killed.

Im game. I will help you will your clowns into its chosen home if you will mine to stay in my BTA. Crazy clowns, when I first put them in the went into the nem over night and after a month they are trying to host in my frogspawn. I will post pictures later.
