Waste production in my RO system never STOPS!?

Hello all,

I have a strange problem w/my RO system that has been going on now for about a month. I have a 6-stage system w/a 5 gallon storage tank and a DI filter. For some reason if I leave the water supply line turned on, waste water will NEVER stop comming out of the waste line. I have tried installing a brand new auto-shut off valve and that did not work. Here's whats really weird; If I turn off the supply line but I still have the storage tank valve open, all the water in the storage tank will drain out of the waste line! Does any one have any idea what might be going on? The only way I can use my setup right now is to manually turn on the supply line for as long as I need water then turn it off when Im done and I cannot use the 5 gallon storage tank. It is becoming a major pain in the neck.

Here's possibly some necessary information:

Soon, but not immediatly before this problem started, I had dis-connected everything to change all the prefilteres, the RO membrane and the DI resin.

I also switched the stock waste control valve from a brass gate valve to a ball valve w/JG fittings.

I hope someone has some insight on this. Let me know if you need more info on my setup-i.e. pictures, a diagram, ect. Thanks a million.

You should have a valve where your storage tank connects and you can turn that off while your troubleshooting this. It's always been the ASO valve for me and I did have one fail rather quickly one time. The other thing you can check is your water pressure. I've heard that if the pressure is too low it can cause them not to be able to switch off.

When you say you switched your waste control valve, do you mean the valve to flush the RO, or the valve that regulates the flow from the waste RO? If it's the valve to regulate I don't think a ball valve is accurate enough, but that's me. Easy thing is switch it back and see if it fixes the problem.
