Water Changes

I have been changing about 7% a week since my cycle was over. With the size trash cans I have this amount works well and I can do it in about 15 minutes.

Is this too much, too little, or OK?

It's around what is recommend. Most people will do a 10-15% water change a week or say 20% every other week.

Once you got your nitrogen cycle stable, then you dont have to make large water changes. You can get by with 10 gallons water changes every week.

It is amazing how much difference it makes to make "regular" water changes even if they are smaller. Large water changes I reserve for times when there might be something wrong with the tank. I have a 180 gal tank and I try to make a 10 gal WC every week.
