Water quality from new RO/DI unit

We just purchased a new RO/DI 6 stage unit... I opened up the big filter chambers and it smells plasiticy. Should we be worried about using the water from it initially or are we just being over careful?

Always run it for about 12 hours, tossing the initial water, before using it for your tank.
