wavemaker?

I was looking at the coralife power center and it alos says it can be used as a wavemaker. Is this true and if so how effective is it?

Yes, it has 3 timed outlets, you plug in your powerheads, and it turns them on and off.

I have one and it works great. Mine is about 6 years old, and never had a problem.

The Power Center is better used for turning lights on and off and not as a wave maker. You can only turn the outlets off and on 7 times throughout the day. Whereas other wavemekers can be turned on/off for intervals that are seconds or up to 15 minutes. The Power Center may help you get some different flow throughout the day, but it isn't neceassrily a 'wavemaker'.

That is definitely different, but a better option for a wavemaker.

yes, i was also looking at that, but thought i would ask about the coralife power strip because of the price. I also found another thing on ebay, how do you think this would work?

The ebay one is simply a DJ light timer that you can buy by itself for much cheaper. All that info is in the thread above.

i read a post the other day where the wavemaster outlets quit working after awhile. ive never owned one so i have no experience, just what i read. this one got a good review.

yeah that one does look pretty nice, but for what i need, it is a little bit out of the price range.

i looked a little bit at the DJ lighting controllers and they seem pretty nice for the least amount of money, the only thing i would be worried about is the saltwater being near it. I think what i might do is just spend the $50 and get the power strip one by aquarium systems. Thanks everyone and let me know if you find anything else.

The naturewave strip is probably going to be your best deal, it will run 3 powerheads.
