Website Status

Hey guys.

I'm working on the website as quickly as I can. I'm running a "ghost" copy of the site in the background and trying to add the security patches and such.

I'll post updates here as I make progress. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I'll do my best to get it up and running again ASAP.

Please know that I won't just leave it broken.

Well, I got online and tried to log in and couldn't. I went to the member list, and my user name and matt's username had been changed to a bunch of letters.

I tried to change my name back in the admin panel and it let me log in, but it would log me right back out.

Then, the hacker started deleting all of the threads and posts, so I hurried up and shut it down.

I've got a guy that has offered to help, but he wants access to our server and admin info for the phpnuke site. I'd like to give it to him, but my personal info and credit card info are all available there, so I don't think I'm going to go that route.

I'll keep reading and trying to get things to work, but with my lack of coding knowledge, it'll be hard for me to pick out the hacks in the code to remove them.

We may have to do a fresh install of the website software again. Hate to say that, but lesson learned I guess. I'll be sure to install all security patches and such before launching.

Gee i wounder what douse bag would do something like this? Who would be this mad at the club? Well the one i have in mind i didn't think they where smart enough to open there box of crayons. I guess they had a friend do it. Keep up the good work Daren

Yeah, I'm learning that the software that we use is pretty unsafe out of the box. I'm guessing that the hacker is not a human, but another computer. There are idiots all over the world that spend all of their time writing programs to go destroy people's stuff.

Still working with a few people to get some help.

Definitely not going to happen quickly.

I could do a complete wipe of the site and start from scratch fairly quick, but I want to try and save the information.

Still working on the site guys. I've got a guy that's helping me out a bit.

I think we'll be switching the software from PHP Nuke to RavenNuke, which is supposed to be much more secure.

I'll keep updating as things change.

Guys, we should be back up and running tomorrow.

Please check here before checking the site. We want as few people visiting the site as possible until it's fixed.

Also, we may be asking everyone to create a new user name and use a new password for security reasons. Since we've been hacked, we're not sure who's info has been compromised.

Keep checking this thread for details.

Well, it looks like all of Matt's posts, and all of my posts were deleted from the site.

Everything else looks to still be intact, but there is a bunch of information missing since we were two of the highest posters on the forums.

We're getting closer to relaunching the site. Please stay tuned.

When this is over, we'll all owe special thanks to "Floren". He's a moderator on a PHPNuke forum that's helped a great deal in getting us up and running again.

I'm not sure that I can plug the site address here on RC, but we'll give thanks where thanks is due on the site when it launches again.
