Weird skimmer question

I just purchased some Marshall Island rock and it doesn't have much coralline algae. Before I put it in my tank, what should I do? Should I scrub it, should I just put it in, etc...
I want it covered and know it will take time but it is coming out of a tank that has been up for a long time.

There is no green algae on it.

How is this a Weird skimmer question? Anyway if it is coming out of an established tank, and doesn't have any algea, etc.. on it I would just swish it around really good in a few buckets of your tank water (you can do a water change while your at it). If you want you can blast it with a power head, or scrub it lightly just to get any ditritus off. Then add it to your tank. If there is currently livestock in your tank you may want to watch your ammonia, nitrite incase the new rock has any di-off and causes spikes, but if it's in an established system and you keep it submerged, and move it from the current tank to your tank quickly enough there shouldn't be much die-off. As for the coraline just keep your Calc/Alk up and it should come in time. Hope this helps, and If I missed anything someone else please chime in. Im kinda a newbie my-self.

Sorry, wrong question

I am picking up a tank that is having to be broken down that is fully operational. I am putting the water in my tank especially since I don't have to cycle. (my tank is new)
My question is, my skimmer is brand new and says it needs to be broken in? What is the best way to approach this with a running tank and a new skimmer?

Thanks!

Theres really nothing much you have to do to break your skimmer in, you could soak/rinse all your parts in warm water to remove any reside from the manufacturing. This slows down the break in period. Other then that in general set up the skimmer and leave the water level down so it doesn't skim anything for the first 24 hours, then just raise the level a little every day until you get the skimate you want. Keep in mind it might take a week or more for the skimmer to start producing good skimate. Thats what I did at least. BTW what skimmer is it just out of curiousity?
