Weird sound coming from tank

Heuristic

I have asked in a few places and I no one seems to really be able to pin down what could be making this noise out of my fish tank.

Every night at around the same time, probably about 20 minutes before the lights bed time something it making a noise in my tank. It almost sounds like if you were to rub to wet rubber things together, that squeaking sound. It does it about 3 times and then stops and then 5 times and stops. It comes in bursts.

I watched every one of my fish and none of them were doing anything weird. At one point I figured it was the fox face trying to chew on something.

Here is my stocking list
5 peppermint shrimp
1 Cleaner shrimp
1 candy striped pistol shrimp
1 porcelain crab
5 trochus snails
1 fox face
1 melanurus wrasse
1 diamond watchman goby
1 blue spotted watchman goby.

At around the 4 second mark in this video you can hear it

Last night it didn't happen until after the lights turned off.

I am going to try and get a better video of the sound and see if I can trace it down more. I'm not sure if whatever is making the noise is aware of my presence, so I may be able to get right up to the tank and figure out exactly where it's coming from.

could just be the pistol shrimp.. They make noise..
It was difficult to really hear it in the video..

Sounds like your pistol shrimp to me.
It could be it digging or something. I asked somewhere else and a few people chimed in and said it's 100% the snails rubbing against the glass. That would make a lot of sense

I don't think a snail would be able to make noise like that. My guess would be a pistol shrimp

It wouldn't be the snail itself making that noise, just that when they do their back and forth spin that they do the shell is hitting the glass

Next time you hear it look up on your glass at the edge of your tank. I've sen ny snails do that. It's really loud and sounds like a squeaking and a knocking. I'll see one of my snails moving back and forth in place (like he's doing the twist), and then his shell also knocks loudly against the glass. He's usually up in a corner so his shell may be knocking on both panes of glass as he shimmies. He only does it a few times but it's really startling whenever I hear it.

I'm pretty confident that is exactly what is happening here. On another forum I posted this on I've now had a few people chime in and say that their trochus snails make that exact sound all the time

Do you have wavemakers? My snails love to hang around it and sometimes the strong pulsing current near them cause their shells to hit the glass and make a similar noise.
