Hello everyone! I live in Galesburg IL. and I've had FW tanks for over 16 years. We currently have a 29g SW tank in our bedroom (that houses only seahorses), a 65g FW river bed with many, many different species that I can't remember what all we have (it's my hubby's pride and joy ~ was also his b-day present), and the 55g SW that right now houses (2) mated Percula Clowns, (2) blue/green chromis's, (1) purple chromis, (1) hippo tang, (1) serpant starfish and nurmerous snails and hermit crabs. Also have roughly 80lbs. LR and 30-40lbs. LS. The refug is a 29g with skimmer and mag pump. Currently not a closed loop system, but hopefully soon it will be. No corals as of yet, since I'm still trying to figure out the light issue and what specs I need to make the future corals happy. Otherwise, I'm in a constant state of learning and enjoying the ride for as long as it lasts, which I hope lasts indefinitely.

Hi everyone, I've posted on here before, but this will be my official entry posting. I have been in saltwater reefkeeping for 2.5 years. I started with a 29 gallon tank with a 10 gallon sump/fuge. I am currently in between tanks with my next tank on order. I will be moving to Springfield at the end of August and setting up my new tank.

The new tank, since I'll be living in an apartment, won't be a huge upgrade. I'm going to a 55 gallon with a built in corner overflow. I'll be using a 29 gallon sump/fug with miracle mud substrate. The tank will have dual 250 w 14k metal halides. I plan to start the tank out as a skimmerless set up and see how it goes from there. My livestock are currently being babysat at my lfs until I make the move. I have a tomato clown, a yellow tang, tons of mushrooms, a brain lps, hammer, a few different polyps, and some various inverts, etc etc etc.

Any suggestions on equipment to try to run to improve my system or any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Hope to meet you all soon upon my relocation.

Thanks!

Hi! I am relatively new to SW, I bought my first tank (existing 37 gallon with LR and one Hippo) November of 05. I soon found out that my desires outgrew that small tank and bought a 90 gallon setup and brought that tank home (90 miles difference) on Jan 1st of 2006. We were blessed with a warm day and we moved the tank, all the rock and water and two tangs home and set it up. I was too much a newbie to know that the tangs would be terribly stressed with such a water temperature drop, but everything worked out fine.

I've read everything I could get my hands on (twice) and been a avid follower of the boards. Ive been fortunate and never had any kind of disease or ick in my tank. I am totally absorbed in this hobby and see the reef aspect of it as an extension of my love for growing things (outside.) And, I think I love the inverts as much as the fish!

I'm looking forward to meeting the members of CIMA and being part of the group. I live in Galva, but my husband is from Champaign so driving that way won't be that hard for me. Thanks for all the posters that give us all so much good information and advice!

HELLO

HELLO

HELLO ALL, I am new to the saltwater world, just a hello because you may see me on here asking all sorts of questions.

Hello all. I just found this forum and am excited about learning from others in this hobby. I've had my reef tank up and running for about 7-8 months and it is doing pretty good, but I'm always wondering what I can do to make it more exciting. I enjoy my corals and am always looking for more great looking coral to add, but I also am learning about the various corals and who gets along with who.

Again, I look forward to learning from others who have been in the hobby for a while. Pardon me if I ask tons of questions!! LOL

hello everyone, I was at a LFS last night selling some frags. While talking with the manager he told me about this local forum. I've been in the hobby about 3 years now, and have been through the school of hard knocks with my 75 gallon reef, but have made a succesfull reef tank with softies. Im looking to advance in this addictive hobby, so I look forward to the more experianced ones to share there knowledge.:D
