What are you feeding your haddoni carpet anemone?

I have an electric green haddoni and some nights his mouth will just open wide with hunger. I tried feeding whole krill but they did not stick.. he loves to eat any fish that pass on as well as some fine particulate cyclop-eeze when they come by him but maybe I should try silversides? He's 6" and has expanded to 8" in the past, isn't as sticky as he used to be but color has exploded and is way brighter than the past.

What do you guys feed yours and how often.

very nice color. Mine eat silversides and lancefish. 1 fish about 1/4 the anemone's diameter 2 times a week is about what I feed mine.

I feed mine my own blended mix of fish, mussels, clams, shrimp, krill, squid and some Zoe. A thawed chunk about the size of a quarter once a week or so (depending how much it catches through regular feedings of the tank). It seems very happy and looks like is has grown and opened more than it did when I got it last month.

The mouth being open that much doesn't look right at all.

To answer your first question I feed mine fresh squid from the market, silversides, shrimp, and scallops. They usually eat whatever I offer and its gone within 5 minutes at the most.

Concerning the mouth, check the salinity and the oxygen content of the water, also check all the normal parameters. I have noticed when my salinity drops or I don't have enough strong flow the anemones open their mouths similiar to yours.

well i just bought a box of lancefish and the anemone ate it easily.. i guess it was a false alarm from the salinity change, thanks guys

Squid, Mussels, Clams. Squid is my haddoni's personal favorite...At least in my opinion. Mine has never really liked silversides as much but will eat them...A thawed out chunk about the size of its mouth (diameter) two to three times a week seems to keep it happy.
Good luck...
