What did you pay for Xenia

OK I will admit it. I paid $30. Gave it to pat. This was b4 I came to reef certral. I just loved the way it moved. Open....close...open....close. ITs mesmerizing. Now I hate it. Its like it wants to take over. I keep turning the rock so as to stunt its growth, But it has gotten away from me.

What did you pay for xenia? Please don't post if you got it for free. It will just make me feel bad.

lol....don't feel bad. I paid for xenia when I first got into marine aquariums for the same exact reason.
I wanted the coral (weed) that moves. I guess I was hypnotized by the pulsating too.
But after time I saw this stuff is usually given away for free...it's just a matter of time due to this coral (weed) grows like there's no tomorrow.

I think I paid $30 too for my first stalk, but eventually I gave it away by the tons for free :D until I accidentally found that xenia's worst enemy was the same substance that I was dipping my corals with (Fluke tabs)
Now all my Xenia is gone for good.

I just paid $60 for blue suspitchularia. I hope it grows like a weed. I did pay $20 at reefs edge over a year ago for a small frag of xenia, It is now 10 times the size.

I paid $30 in the beginning, 2 years or more ago for my nano. Then it took over the nano, and I fragged it, and it was the starting coral of many people in this club. About a year ago I got some fluke tab in the tank from residue on a pump, and it nuked the xenia. I never realised how much nutrients they took up, because once they started dieing, the algae took off, nomatter how much of them I siphoned off or removed from the tank, the algae still went nuts. O well....

TY LORD FOR FLUKE TABS!:D :D :D

Okay, I admit it too....I paid $20 for two plugs with 3 stalks each for pulsing pink xenia from Morgan. That was about a year and a half ago. It looked great in her tank and is doing great in mine...actually doing too good. It's taking over.

I agree that it must be good for taking out nutrients. Look in the sump at Eco Reef's big display tank and you'll see it there. He says the same thing about nutrients. So, when I convert to a refugium, I'm putting some in there too.

it was my first coral.
i payed 35... when i saw the colony in beverlys, i really wanted them.
now...not so much.

i paid $20 for a little piece from exotic aquatic like a year and a half ago and it defintly took over

yea.. i paid like 10 to get a piece shipped from orlando over a year ago... since then ive gotten over 200 in store credit from several different stores and i have to prune VERY soon... the entire left side of my tank is pink...

I got my first few frags for free, but they ultimately died. Guess xenia wasn't for me back then.

Now, I'm thinking of putting a bunch in my fuge to gobble up nutrients. Anyone doing this, and if so, does it tend to stay there, or end up in the display?
