What is the gas in the bubbles that cyanobacteria produces?

Is that Nitrogen, or Oxygen or some other gas that cyanobacteria produces?

Oxygen for cyanobacteria species (byproduct of photosythesis).

That's what I had thought, but then I read somewhere that cyano can actually "fix" nitrogen aerobically and so I thought that it might be Nitrogen bubbles.

Nitrogen fixation is taking it from gas form into a solid molecule for use. A different process altogether, my friend.
