what is this green fuzz?

There is a green cottony substance starting to overtake my LR...what kind of algae is this and how do I get rid of it? My hermits won't touch this one!

Sounds like a standard green hair alga, but a picture would help. Some manual pruning, if possible, might be in order.

Sorry can't post pic...but it looks exactly like cotton...just green.

Sounds like hair algae to me too.

A toothbrush can help you scrub it off. I have had outbreaks a few times and IMO it is pretty easy to control.
