What is this junk growing in my palys?

Is this a sponge consuming my purple palys?!

I thought it was part of the mount for the frag until it got noticeably bigger... Kinda itching to rip it out.

Well, now I know my evening's project. Stupid thing is hindering growth so it's gonna go.

no need for ripping and tearing most sponges will die when exposed to air, and a fresh water bath with a light tooth brushing should get rid of it..

The sponge is better for your tank than the palythoas. Scrape it off and stick it in the sump.
