What is this?

So I've been noticing these popping up on the LR in my nano tank. Anyone know what these are? Are they good or bad? They are the little black mounds on the rock, when I get close to them with my tongs there is something the retracts down into the mound.

Hard to tell. Possibly a barnacle?

Can't really make out what you have pictured. Are we talking something like tiny brittle star tentacles? Little brittle stars won't hurt anything. They may help clean up algae or detritus and provide a snack to wrasses.
