What is your Electric Bill PGE?

$250 in winter & $150 in summer. The tank is about 135G DT + 40G sump, kept at 76, running 120x3W LEDs, Mag12, Sedra 5000 for skimmer, 2 MP40s.

I also have a plugin hybrid Volt that I charge every night. House thermostat is between 65-68. When I checked the PG&E usage, beside the car charging, the big spikes were from my laundry washer/dryer.

I am still paying a flat rate throughout the day for PG&E, I'm thinking to switch to a time-of-use rate for plugin hybrids and see if it sames me a good amount.

hmm I do have AI vega's already. This setup has been up for a while now, just in the last 2-3 months, the bill has gone up by at least $120-200. I thought it was the heater, but from what you guys are saying, that's probably not the case.

the pc part part aobut 700watt ps only menas if you are running 24/7 at full load but yeah any bit of energy running 24/7 will be high up there since having a reef tank i am always at tier4

Mine doubled last month because if my wife's space heater. I also lower my temp to 75-76 degrees in the winter

1 Bedroom APT in SF.

75G Tank with LED/ T5 hybrid. $90.00/month.
We do have steam heating for the apt so we save money not paying for heat.
I also force my GF to turn off all the lights and she is ALMOST there...

is it just me or does energy cost more in the bay area? I could swear electricity and specially gas was way cheaper in socal. I've never lived in a city where gas cost more than electricity till I moved to the bay...

anyway, I'm paying $200 in the summer & $300+ in the winter, seems the heater does the most damage....

I did some math comparing 2 years bills and averaged the difference over several months between one year with no tank & the next year with 40g tank (150mh + 2x24 T5s at the time) & according to my calculations my bill went up an average of $15 a month after the tank moved in. I just switched to LED so I'll be making the same calculations in a few months.
