What Setup Is Cheaper

What is cheaper....a 58gal sps tank, or a 200+gal Fish Only w/LR tank?..whats cheaper when setting up and final cost?

That all depnds on how expensive the equipment you use is.
But going off of a base of decent stuff with both setups so they can run and work properly, I would say the 200 gal FOWLR. With the reef, you need proper lighting, and the higher end equipment.
Either way they both will be money takers, it just all depends on how far you want to go with it.

i would go with a 100-150 gal if i were you. it seems like you are unsure of what you want to do. just get something in this range and setup a semi-reef for mushrooms and the like. the maintenance will be cheaper on this than the 200+. just my 2 cents.

Should be cheaper for the larger fish tank. Besides higher end/additional equipment on the SPS tank stocking the SPS tank with SPS gets expensive very quickly. Also the monthly cost on a SPS tank will usually be higher then a FO tank due to increased electrical usage. This electrical usage is the reason i recently downsized tanks.

Besides the price you might want to think about which one will be the most entertaining for you in the long run. Fish only tanks are nice but can become boring after a while, at least for me. If on the other hand, you just want something nice to look at without the hassles and maintenance a fish only tank might be your best bet.

sounds like u don't really know what u want to do, try to do more research, look into how much work there is for coral comparative to a FOWLR. if i were u, i'd go with the smaller tank (its easier to do water changes) and start with FOWLR and work ur way up to corals, then SPS. but thats me, i think FOWLR tanks are boring anyway.
