I just set up my 29cube SPS today. I have a brand new Prime 1/10 chiller that uses 1/2" or 5/8 hose for its fittings. I am running the return off of a mag7. I used 1/2" ID hose and the corresponding hose barbs. The problem is the actual hose barb opening is only 3/8". I think this might be hampering the flow a little. (duh!) It wouldn't even be an issue except the chiller needs a min. of 420 gph to operate correctly. I have not measured the flow but I am willing to bet it is not anywhere near 420gph. I would have used 5/8" hose but I couldn't find any hose barbs that size. The mag7 is 1/2" out also. I will be using either a closed loop or a nano stream for internal flow. Should I mess with finding 5/8" barbs or just get a bigger pump like a mag 9.5 to force the water through? This whole small tank thing is all new to me, all of my other tanks used 3/4 or larger. your thoughts would be appreciated.
