I'm building a steel stand for a 125g (6ft wide), what size steel square tube should i use 1-1/2" or 2"?? I'm doing a top and bottom ring with six uprights(4 at the corners and 2 in the middle) Is the 2" square tube really needed?

I bought some steel shelving with 1" angle iron that was about 1/16" thick that had a load limit of 5000 pounds. Your tank is about 1000 pounds.

the 1 1/2" should be fine as long as you get a good wall thickness. you could probably get away with less, but i would go with 1/8" or better if it's not to expensive.

1.5" x 1.5" x 7ga. with 6 uprights will work just fine. My 240 sits on 2" x 2" x 7ga. and is solid as a rock!! You could get by with 11ga. but 7ga. is easier to work with when welding.

make sure u clean the metal good before epoxy coating it. Metal is covered with oils to keep it from rusting in the shops.
