What to do/see on the west coast of Florida?

Hey all,
The wife wants to go hit the Gulf side tomorrow for the day.
Do any of you have any favorite spots to go to, restaurants to have lunch/dinner at anywhere from Alligator Alley up to maybe an hour or so north?

Thanks for whatever suggestions you can throw my way before we leave tomorrow morning.
I'll check the thread again about 7am before we get on the road.

I75 has been in the news as being closed due to fires. herald says may be closed till monday.

I used to live in Naples. The downtown shopping district is nice and you can walk to the beach and Naples pier. In Fort Myers the Edison Museum is worth a look. Lovers Key State Park in Bonita Springs is also nice. There's bike, canoe, and kayak rentals. There's protected bays that are great for paddling. On the beach there's good shelling and the sunsets are awsome. Check the I75 closure though.

Damn, forgot about the closing.
I see they opened it for a little while today and then closed it again.
I guess we could always shoot down to Miami and take Tamiami Trail across but it will add about an hour to an hour and a half.

If we do decide to still go, does anyone know a good snorkling spot anywhere from around Naples to Sanibel?

theres a rest. by the beach i believe its called the turtle club very good food
