My pine DIY canopy is nearing completion. There's 2 96w PCs and 1 mogul base 175w MH

what should be used for a splash guard?

should something be placed the whole length or just to protect the MH?

im thinking acrylic but can it withstand the heat of the MH? (how hot do these things actually get?)

or perhaps nothing should be used at all? it will be suspended from the ceiling.... but personally shattered MH lamps scare me

I would use nothing at all. I have maintained a lot of tanks with MH and they were all open top. Some bulbs were as close as 6" and others as far away as 18". But I don't remember there being anything to splash the water. The last time I saw a light bulb break from water splashing on it was in Mr Kuala's Physical science class in 1977...

Thanks,

Scott

Mr. Kualas Science class....that is classic..........I was just about to order a retro kit from duyreef or hello lights and was wondering the same thing....because get this....the web pages say something like..." this unit should not be in close proximity to humidity or water???
