I thought this was a T.Maxima, but some people are telling me it is a Crocea.

Thanks. Certainly won't be the last time I am wrong about something. For future reference, what are the major differences between a maxima and crocea?

Thanks,
Tom

croceas can do just fine on the sandbed as well.

The biggest difference is in the scutes on the clam shell. Since corceas are boring clams they generaly wear out their scutes and are flat/smooth shells. The maximas have very prominent scutes on their shells.

Thanks for the responses! Now I know:)

I do have the clam on the snadbed as you can see in the pic, but he is attached to a piece of rubble, so I guess to him he is in the rockwork.

Thanks again.
