Hey I was wanting to try propagating. Whats one of the easier corals to learn to propagate without possible doing something wrong? Ive been doing some reading but am afraid to hurt or damage them. Thanks!

Cant Go wrong with some GSP (Green Start Polyps) those bastards are tough as nails to kill and they are the devil.:angryfire::deadhorse1:

You can start with polyps (zoas and palys) but just wear protective gear due to the toxin they give off called palytoxin.

Mushrooms are also easy and not toxic but they can squirt when you cut them so just don't get mushroom juice in the eyes. Leather corals such as sarcophyton are also easy to frag. And then also the already mentioned GSP and xenia/ anthelia is also quite easy.

Candy cane or branching hammer/torch. they all have dead skeletal branches which can be broken by hand or with snips.

I'd say zoo/paly. Anyone with something sharp can frag Euphyllias and GSP. Zoas/palys take some skill, you must cut in the right place and be sure to keep it in decent water conditions or it will melt. Sounds difficult but it's really not, it's a great way to get into propagating. Go grab some cheap ugly zoos and frag till your hearts content. Once you can do easy zoos, you can do hard ones! They're all the same!

Most corals will have slightly different prop techniques. However if you go with zoa/palys, make sure to wear gloves and eye protection. I find a lot of frag examples on youtube.

I bought a really big lr completely encrusted with gsp. It is amazing how rapidly it grows. I have some zoas I bought several months back that I picked up with my bare hands and moved in the tank. A while later my knuckle was aching. Then my arm ached, then the side of my neck then my jaw. I thought it was weird.

A month later I accidently brushed the same frag when messing around arranging things. Same thing happened. Be careful and wear protection. I told my wife what happened to make sure she knew what had happened in the event she came home and found me on the floor next to my aquarium.

I hope I am not too far off topic. Just wished I knew this was possible before it happened to me.
