Whats this on my Sinularia

Hello. I was wondering if anyone could ID this thing on my Sinularia. I've had this coral about 6 months and after moving some things around noticed this for the first time. I will try and get a clearer shot if necessary. Thanks in advance!

I think that is it. I've seen the web of stuff it puts out. At first I thought the coral was doing it (waste) but when I saw this worm snail sucking it back in I new something was up. Well it looks like from the reading, that they arn't harmful other then if they get into high numbers... but they recommend getting it out. Does anyone have any ideas how I would remove that from the side of the coral without killing the coral? Thanks for everything.

That is a vermitid snail, I believe. They put out mucous "strands" and collect plankton. If your camera has a macro (tulip) feature that might help.

You may not be able to remove it as vermetids cement themselves down quite firmly. Try gently prying it off with tweezers but stop if there's any resistance otherwise you'll tear the coral.

I've never heard of that species "taking over" so I don't think you need to worry. The ones that become a pest seem to be smaller. I had one in my tank for years and never saw any more. I would just enjoy it.
