It looks like some type of cowry or limpet. These gastropods cover their shell with their foot when they are out and about. If you poke at it and it retracts its foot, you can see its shell. After looking at its shell you can tell which it is. Google both and get an idea of what their general shell appearance looks like.
Maybe it is a spiny oyster. I didn't think to ask if it was stony and sessile or if it is moving around the liver rock and tank. At first glance I thought it might be cowry or limpet because I have had both appear in my tanks and they looked very much like that when their foot was out.
Rjukan--- Does it move around the tank or is it attached to the rock? If it is attached to the rock it is not a cowry or limpet for sure.
does it open and close? it sure looks like some sort of bivalve to me - I think I can see in inlet and outlet siphon, but it is really hard to tell from that pic
