Only the Green Cap is having this problem, even a different frag of it in another section of the tank is effected by this on a few spots arond the edges.

PH is 8.2-8.3,
Salinity is 1.025,
Calcium is 440ppm,
Nitrates are at 5ppm, and
Temp is 80-82 (80 at night, 82 during the day)

look at the underside of it for NUDI's, i lost 14 colonies to the little bastards.. they start on the bottom and work their way to the top..

It is just weird that it is just the green cap and it is happening in different sections as well as one in a different part of the tank. The little frags I am bringing to the swap next Saturday are not effected, but the big pieces in two different parts of the tank are effected.

Just Weird!

i thought the same thing.. till I found the nudi's by the time I accepeted what the prob was.. and did something it was too late..

I don't see the problem. Aren't the tips of your M. cap supposed to be lavendar? Or is it turning white?

The tips have always been kinda white, just not that far down and so noticeable, they are turning very white.

It is just a change that I haven't seen in them before now to do something like this, and all of a sudden the tips are turning very white. I can't tell if it has gotten any worse as of yet, only time will tell. If it goes down any further by tomorrow morning, I am going to take off those white tips.

I really can't help. In the past, I've had a beautiful montipora foliosa and capricornis. Now I can't keep any alive to save my life. I have a tank full of SPS, but montipora (considered the easiest of all) won't live.

turn the green cap over and look for 1/8-1/4" white/goldish frilly looking things, look in the edge of the dying area.. you can see them better while the coral is still inthe water.(upsidedown..)

Maybe it is a tough pic to see but it just looks like growth to me. My green cap gets a large white ring around the edge when it spurts really fast growth. If all parameters are fine, it's either nudis, growth, or some chemical reaction. Run some carbon. You have a mixed tank and that could cause issues .

Generally nudis will imo nail one monti and move to the next but I've seen them attack more then one at a time.

ha.. you should have seen mine.. all lined up in troup formation, half moon, head to tail head to tail head to tail head to tail head to tail head to tail head to tail head to tail 50 in a row, eating like a harvesting machine.. on 14 different colonies..
