I got my OCTO 3 days ago, he doing good and I want to do every thing I can to keep it that way.

-I've got him in a 20 gal. for the time being, (I'll be moving him to my larger tank after I move my other fish to there larger tank)
-I have about 2-3" of LS w/ LR.
-I have a 3"x 4.5' DIY, CC skimmer.
-a Tetra-tec PF300 power filter (good up to 60 gal. tank) running on its slowest setting (has 4 filter cartridges w/carbon and a bio-foam chamber).
-I use RO water and Instant Ocean. (getting ready to buy a RO/DI unit from www.aquaticreefsystems.com )
-Salinity is at 1.025-1.026
-ph is 8.0-8.2
-ammonia is 0
-nitrite is 0.5
-copper is 0
-temp is 76

I'll try to post some pics.

I'm wondering how good these Mini Lab Test kits from Red Sea are?(the only ones at my LFS)

Also while at my LFS today I picked up some Copper Remover made by Aquarium Systems. Its to be put into a mesh pouch and placed in the power filter and replaced every 2 months. I was woundering sence copper is reeealy bad if it would be a good idea to use this in my power filter even though I dont have a copper problem.(just to be extra safe)

and another, I'll try to post some good pics of the oct. when i can.

This one is of my 2 tanks sitting side bye side, do you think that it's cruel to let my oct see my other fish? Right now I have a towel blocking his view.

Hi Jim,

Dunno if it's classed as cruel or not but that octopus will probably spend a fair bit of time watching its neighbours... if it is stressing it out then i would keep a partition in the way! I had to do that for 2 octopuses that could see each other in tanks.

All your stuff looks fine for an octopus. You may want to try that copper remeover but if it is at 0 already it may be a waste of money. RO water should be pretty much clear of copper.

What species did you get? AND POST PICS :) :)

I'm not sure what the species is. I was hoping once I got some good pics of him you guys would be able to help me on that one. He's camera shy right now, but as soon as I can I'll post some.
Thanks for the help, Jimmy
