I have recently begun feeding DT's. Would it be better to feed during the day when the clams have their mantles fully extended or at night even though they are less expanded? Just want to do whats best for them
TIA
I use a square plastic bowl to scoop out maybe 8 oz. of tank water. I add about a half tea spoon of phytoplankton to the water. Just enough to change the color of the water. After about 15 or so minutes I add some of the tank water to the bowl and remove some of the feeding water back into the tank.
After a 10 minute acclimation back into the tank my babies are once again happy and the other clams get a small dose of food.
Do you really think after only 15 minutes the chemistry has changed between the water in the feeding bowl and the tank? I guess it can't hurt but that would surprise me a little. Or are you worried about temperature? I float mine in the tank or sump while he's eating so the temp stays constant.
