When to start dosing

Hi there quick question, I have a 3 1/2 week old RSM 130 that has dead base rock and two pcs from the LFS that were in a display. They have great color and I want it to spread to the base rock, is there a way to accelerate this by dosing certain products to get more coraline on these white base rocks? The base rock is just dry LR that was sitting in a box from an old tank.

Cheers

I'd watch the calcium and alkalinity parameters. Coralline will consume calcium and alkalinity to grow, and can deplete the levels fairly quickly. After that, making sure there's some food available likely will help. Nothing else is going to be effective, IMO.

Thanks makes total sense, ill keep my eye on these levels to support faster growth. Any specifics on diet that would accelerate the growth?

cheers

Algae aren't very picky as far as food, from what we can tell. :) I would worry more about overfeeding. A tiny bit of fish food per day, maybe a small flake, likely would be more than enough, IMO.
