Where can I get a cheap jigsaw?

try harbor freight. occasionally through email I receive coupons and just recenty a 15% off one item coupon.

Harbor freight is prolly cheaper. They used to have them for under $15, sometimes $10 on sale. Shipping is also flat rate at around $7 - or at least it used to be. The nearest wal mart for me is about 20 miles away, so spending $3,894,393,298 on gas to get there is a no-go.

Harbor Freight has pretty good prices, and their tools are good for the occasional user. I would not buy one if I was using the tool constantly.

pawn shop.

+1, I was gonna say the same thing. The pawn shop near me in the ghetto has contractor coming and going all day picking up cheaps drills and saws.

I think I got a really cheap one for $15 at one of the box stores. Its perfect for my reef tanks which I keep in my apartment 600 miles from home.

I guess I should be more specific. I was talking about a jigsaw table, but a hand held might work just as well.

saveafish, is that a bear or walrus in your avatar?

I guess we need to know what you mean by "cheap"... Are you looking for a shoddy piece of crap or something usable that doesn't cost much? Personally I'd look at a Craftsman if you're looking for the usable inexpensive kind, they run good sales on powertools all the time. Be careful of the off brands, I can't think of the name Sears has that K Mart sells (maybe Companion?), but I bought a miter saw for some junk work I didn't want to use my good one for. It was outright dangerous.

I have a Craftsman benchtop scroll saw I take to jobsites to back cut molding miters. It takes a lot of abuse and is a fairly solid piece of equipment. I think I paid $60 for it a couple years ago. I personally don't like the quality, sturdiness, or safety of the HK, Harbor Frieght, etc... off brands.

Pawn shops are great for this sort of thing as well. Two of the local shops always have things priced like they have a new item and usually they'll deal a little. The third local has things marked at least close to reasonable and sometimes will make a great deal. Shop around even at the pawn shops.

Good luck and let us know what you're really looking for....

Tim
