Where can I buy acrylic sheets to build my new sump/refuge?

The ones sold at Home Depot and Lowes, will they work?

Thanks

What is HDPE?

Can any answer the question about the sheets at Home Depot?

They have tons of sizes in various thicknesses like 1/4" I want.

Seems like a great source.

Anyone use it?

Isn't acrylic, acrylic?

Please help

Yeah, i,ve checked out HD acrylic before. It's all the same stuff. HD seems to be kind of expensive. Out here in So. California i go to a place called S&W plastics. there about 20% cheaper and can cut it to anysize you want for a small fee. Don't know if there a national company or even if there a chain.

Thanks. I found a few places here in town and they are about the same as HD.

Do you know if there is a big difference in using extruded vs. Cast?

Thanks

Our HD only has 1/16" stuff. If your going to build a sump/refuge you really should use cast acrylic. The HS stuff is extruded. It will work, I'll just be of poorer qualitiy, harder to work with, and if your not careful you'll have alot of crazing.

Never really checked what kind i get from S&W but it works just fine for all my sumps and fabrication work. I hope to be building a custom size Nano soon and will diffently try to find the best i can for that.

Just ordered a 4' x 8' of cast from Team Plastics for $180. They do not stock and had to bring it in. Others were cheaper, but they are charging less to cut up most of the pieces for me so that I can get it home.

Looking forward to making this. Should see the material in a week.

Thanks all!!
