Where to buy Fluke Tabs?

Has anyone found them at their LFS's? I went to Petco today (because it was in the back of my mind they had them there for some reason), and the sales guy looked at me like I was on crack (otherwise very helpful, however).

Got some new arrivals due in, and don't want to ship them until I can properly QT and treat.

flat worms.

Isn't the active ingredient in Fluke Tabs, Dylox? The same thing Dustin was thinking about using for Red Bugs but instead tried Interceptor?

what are the tablets used for?

They are being used by some people w/ success when treating Acropora's for a specific type of flatworm.

I don't know about the ingredients Gresham, I've just heard from a handful of sources that the stuff will kill the Acro flatworms. Knock on wood, I don't believe I have any yet, but I've got a new shipment coming in next week from a trade, and though I trust the guy, I don't take any chances any longer. Everything new gets the FWExit, interceptor, and now anti-fluke treatment.
Now, where are those latex gloves....

Update us on how the treatment goes Mac. I know it will be speculative as far as it's effectiveness on AFW's if there are none but I'm also curious to see how the acros handle it and what dosage you try. It would be nice if they did work!
thanks, Chris

Sure thing Doc. I'd gotten the idea off this board... then a fellow I've traded w/ in the past commented that it worked for him, so I PM'd him, and got some more info. Said he had a few frags die on him that were exposed to it for more than a few hours in QT. I'm getting the stuff shipped in, and being 'new to me' frags, I'm planning on being cautious. I've got the QT tank setup, I hope to test the dosage w/ some corals I have large colonies of, before using it on the new arrivals.
Either way, my QT tank is only a couple gallons, and the anti-fluke stuff I got is liquid form, and the bottle says 1 drop per 10 gallons... 1 or 2 drops you think? LOL! It's actually a treatment for FW gill parasites... but since I've used heartworm pills for dog's on my tank, very little surprises me. ;)

Good idea testing it on the "expendable" frags first:)
1 or 2 drops........how long is the prescribed treatment?

An hour or two is all you supposedly need.
Now, if I could just get a few 'known' infected frags to try it on... LOL!

So at quarter to 5 last night, I put approx. one gallon of water in a tank w/ an airline bubbling. I put in one drop of Anti-fluke from Aquarium Products or someone (forget the exact name....), and one frag of Larry Jackson's Purple Tipped Monster.
1 hour, no signs, 2 hours, seems fine.
I checked it again this morning before leaving for work... still has color, polyps out, etc.
I'll put it back in the tank when I get home tonight. {shrug}

So Larry Jackson's Purple Tipped monster spent approx. 26 hours in 1 gallon of water w/ 1 drop of anti fluke, and went back in the tank. The next day, she was a little bleached, but otherwise fine.
Yesterday I got a package in from a fellow RC'er. Out of safety, I brought it up to temp, and put in a QT tank of about 1.5 gallons water w/ Interceptor, FWExit (Salifert, one good, hearty squeeze), and 2 drops of this anti-fluke stuff.

I didn't see any acro FW's on the coral upon receiving them, nor did I find any in the QT tank afterwards. Regardless, the only coral that I think I lost (A. sarmentosa frag), appeared to have expelled it's zooxanthellae in the bag (water was cloudy brown when I took it from the cooler). Otherwise, the rest of the corals (3 other Acro's and 2 Montipora's) seem none the worse for wear.

Wether it works on Acro FW's, I dunno.... but 2 drops to 1.5 gallons of tank water, didn't seem to have any ill affects.

That's all for now..... unless someone else wants to swap coolers? :D

The main ingredient in Aquarium Products Fluke Tabs is a organophosphate.

I've been see how the corals take to it.

Tried 3x times rec. dosage for 6 hours and 5x for 6 hours.
They don't like it but it hasn't killed any (yet).

Is this the one we are talking about?

Fluke Tabs

No prob's Doc. My product was slightly different Sean, however I believe they are all basically the same. "Fluke" apparently is a type of infection not uncommon to Freshwater fish, as that's the prescribed usage of the stuff. There are several products on the market that treat the same problem, and they all basically have some derivative of "fluke" in their title.

Dylox is an organophosphate IIRC.

Fluke Tabs two active ingredients are trichlorfon and mebendazole, according to that link.

I don't know what Dylox is but the bottle of Fluke tabs I have list organophoshphate. Now mine is a big shop sized bottle and it is five plus years old so I don't know if they have changed anything.
I know the packaging is different.
