Where to find a Tank

Im currently researching different products, before i begin this new undertaking. I am having trouble finding aquarium vendors. im looking at maybe a 120 gallon (48x24x24), 150 gal (48x30x24) or a 180 gal (72x24x24). I want it to be a glass tank with big central internal overflow. Anyone know any good online resources to help me out in my search? thx

I second glasscages. they have good tanks for the $$ but have horrible customer service. Your lfs is the easiest choice though, and with shipping possibly the cheapest.

I was looking at the glasscages website as well. And as their prices look good, wasn't sure of the quality. Also they don't state how much the tanks are with the stands. Or are those prices with stands included? I second craigslist if you can find a good deal. Just have to be patient and know how to find a 2nd hand tank in good condition.

Both of my big tanks are second hand. Couldn't be happier with them and saved alot of money.

I'll third the opinion as to go second hand. Shop on craigslist... place an add in a paper asking for one... what have you. The really neat thing about this hobby is that people get into it, spend $5000, and then find out they really don't want to do it. You get stuff at 25% retail most of the time and if you're patient enough, you find exactly what you want.

Still... if you find satisfaction in owning a new tank... go for it. There's lot's of companies that will make the perfect tank.

I went through the same search you're doing. I wanted to buy a tank online but didn't really have any luck. They are so heavy the shipping isn't worth it. I went to my local "pet" store and they had no problem ordering an AGA tank for me, and even delivered it at no charge.

I spoke with some at glasscages and thiss is what I had in mind and the prices:
90 gal long
low iron glass on 3 sides
eurobraced (no middle brace)
Oak stand (drilled)
Oveflow with cover including bulkheads (3 holes)
Delivered to Little Rock AR
Total price:
$700
:D
However, i have heard of a few quality issues with silicone seams and salt creep along the seams of 1 person's tank. Of course this might be an isolated incident and nothing to worry about
hope this helps

yup:cool:

I've gotten so many deals and freebies through my local fish clubs that it's not funny. People are constantly downsizing or upsizing, etc., and seem happy to give away stuff to someone else who loves fish.

Other than that, most LFS are happy to order tanks for you. They don't always keep a lot in stock due to inventory considerations.

GlassCages are pretty good. Keep in mind that the low-iron glass is Starphire glass. :D

I'm thinking about buying a new tank from them, but I think I'm gonna have to go used due to budget reasons.

Craigslist is definitely a place to start, but eBay is also useful, particularly if you put in your zip code so it will only search for tanks near you. You can select how close of auctions for it to search for.
