where to put the chaeto

I am getting some chaeto soon, and have some questions on where to put it. I have a 55 gal with the wet/dry still in use(because of the small amount of LR in my tank). I converted the tank for FOWLR to reef. I only have 20 lbs of LR for now. Anyways, I have a yellow tang so I am skeptical on placing it in the tank. I have the sump side of the wet/dry, can I put it in there with a light? I only have the skimmer and the pump for the wet/dry in it now. Or, does anyone have suggestions? I have a bad algae bloom/cyano and I am trying to get rid of it.

in the sump with a light- with some kind of baffle or screen to keep it from clogging your pumps-

i am thinking it wont fit in the sump. Can I put it my tank in a mesh bag? I have a yellow tang, but I don't think it can eat that much if it in the bag.

sure- the bag may collect diatomic algae- as long as you don't mind the looks of it, and the bag is reef-safe & porous enough for the chaeto to get good flow and light, I don't see why not- although there may be a reason I've not heard of others doing this...good luck-

Chaeto doesn't need a lot of flow to grow? (that wasn't meant to be a rhyme)

if i'm getting your question right, my experience is that chaeto needs good flow (not a huge amount) to grow and stay free of detritus and an over-covering of algae, which can kill it-
