Do you guys know what these run for? What is a good price for one?

I dont think you will find to much of a price diffrence. I would call and talk to the retailers that sell them, and see who has one in stock (if thay do) and what will thay do for you. theres not to many places that sell the in the us. I think theres 3 or 4 people but I cant remember them all off hand.

Sent ya a pm that might help ya find all the us retailers.

Hears some old pic of mine. :)

Reefgeek is the ATi Bubblemaster importer, the poster is looking for a Bubble King.

Aquarium Specialty (Scott Groseclose) or Captive Oceans are two distributors that come to mind. I believe BK had a recent price reduction in the past few months. Still will run around $1800-2K.
Availability might be an issue.

Hit up Bebo77, see if he wants to sell.

Call Ed at KM Associates Int'l he carries the high end skimmers, Bubble King, H&S, and Ati. I just got my H&S from him, He gives RC members a deal. He included tax and shipping on my skimmer.

Here is his web page

I just got a BK250 Ext from Scott at Aquarium Specialty...good guy...honest...and included shipping for RC members. Also he double packaged the skimmer....It was such a big box I thought it was a new TV....great job.

OH yeah....and the BK is incredible!

premiumaquatics and captive oceans are the importers.. you probably wont find a real price difference no matter where you shop...

Thanks for all the info guys. I love Reef Central ;)

I know the BK is expensive but for you guys that have them:

1. Do they work great? I currently have a Euro Reef.

2. Are they built like tanks because I want mine to last like 10-15 years!

3. Do you have any regrets?

4. I am looking to set up about a 500G system, should I go BK300 or will the BK 250 be plenty?

5. I have read that these are really quiet skimmers? Can you guys confirm/ comment?

6. Are these plug and play or are there mods that might improve performance significantly that I should look at doing?

With the poor exchange rate between the dollar and euro it hard to recommend a european skimmer since they cost sooo much over here.

You should really look into the new reeflo skimmer at PremiumAquatics.com.

Check out what Jeremy @ premium aquatics said about these skimmers.

The ORCA 250 will perform better than a BK 300 INT or EXT. The ORCA 250 would be more comparable to the 400 INT or EXT actually, although the 400 would perform a little better. HTH!

I have ran both of the skimmers at length, side by side, on the same system. The Reeflo just flat out pulls more and harder than the BK300's. The foam is more gentle, more stable head, smaller bubbles and thicker foam production. I am by no means saying the 300's are a poor choice, or a bad skimmer. They really rock in my opinion. The ORCA 250 just happens to be better is all. They are somewhat similar size and similar air flow, but the BK does pull less power though. In the end, the Reeflo ORCA 250 is one of the best performing skimmers on the market in that size class, if not the best. Then if you throw price in the mix, there really isn't anything out there that will compete with it.

2. I absolutely think it will last 10-15 year for the skimmer but the RD pump, I am not too sure.

3. NO!

4. go with BK 300

5. super quiet.

6. simple to adjust, no mods needed. Just plug and play.

Good luck to your find and welcome to BK club.

So I see the ORCA draws 120 Watts and to BK 300 draws 58 Watts. Can anyone estimate what the monthly cost of running 120 vs 58 watts is?

Looks like I could run 2 BK 300s for the price of 1 ORCA 250? Electricity wise ;)

I appreciate all the inputs guys. I want to make the best investment possible here. I am considering how much electricity stuff draws because I am already adding two more HQIs for the bigger tank and will need more flow than I currently run on my 180G.
