Which blenny should I get now?

OK, so I caught my SPS munching lined blenny. Unfortunately, all my friends LOVED the little guy. So I need a replacement. Obviously a midas would work with my anthias. I also really like the starry blenny.

Could I please get any negative feedback (ie aggressive or coral eating) about the midas and starry blenny.

The only negative feedback I'll offer is it is time for the coral to go! I know your having dreams of going back to fish only.

A few friends own midas blennys with no problems.
I have a red eyed barnacle blenny that everyone loves. It is a really small fish, with big personality.

I had a midas that was a dream until he went surfing, never touched a thing, and the new one is a sweetie so far - he munches algae, and eats anything I offer him, but doesn't touch corals. That said, I don't keep SPS. I've never heard of a midas causing issues with any coral though, and I highly recommend them - they're absolutely adorable little guys, who can resist a fish that's got baby blue eyes and a permasmile?

I have a midas blenny, one of my favorite fish. Doesn't bother anything and has a lot of personality.

I absolutely LOVE my Canary Blenny. There's not much info to be had on them (at least not a lot that I've been able to find) but these guys are so amazing. They almost look Oriental around the eyes and boy are they sociable!

I've had two Midas Blennies that I loved, but they both went carpet surfing... Midas and Bi-Colors seem to be really skittish, but not the Canaries, no sir.

Because they're venomous, and therefore have a defense mechanism, they're as up-in-your-face as all get out. Mine never, ever hides.

They're not venomous to humans, and are only venomous to other fish when they bite them; usually on the insides of their mouth. However, it is very rare for them to attack, and according to Wet Web Media, are perfectly fine in a community reef tank.

I have mine with 2 False Percs, a Pygmy Angel, a Mystery Wrasse and a Valentini Puffer, and they all get along "swimmingly." There are also various zoo's, shrooms and corals, and mine doesn't look twice at them...

The Canary Blenny is one you don't see very often, so it's all the more enticing. Highly recommended!

Thanks for the recommendation. While I agree they are very cool fish (even though I have actually been bitten by one before...YEOUCH!) I was looking for something with more of that standard googly eye blenny look to it, like the starry blenny. I just threw the midas blenny idea out there since I thought it'd be cool swimming with my anthias.

My Bundoon Blenny is in the fang blenny family. He swims with all the big fishes, & begs for food.

Had a bicolor blenny with tons of personality who developed a taste for corals, especially echinos. Evicted him when he went after my Tyrees, killed my Watermelon 2 from Ron @ reeftec. Pulled him out while hiding in a piece of liverock. Sad to have to get rid of him, was a cool fish otherwise.

I like the fang blennies, never had a problem with mine, and would gently nestle up in my hand when I worked on the tank. I could pull him out of the water with ease, and he kept coming back. Never have seen this behavior before with any other fish. Good thing he didn't bite me!

Well, I ended up with a very orange, very small midas blenny. I figured it would be neat to see him interacting with my anthias, since I hear they hang out together in the wild. And at only $25, the price was right.

I am a bit concerned though. He is in QT right now, with a McCosker's flasher and Randall's anthias. He's pretty fiesty, and the other fish definitely move out of his way. Have people had issues of aggression with their midas? And towards what fish?

Not me. My midas was first in the tank and has never shown any signs of aggression to any new introduction. His tankmates are a pair of occelaris that were introduced when tiny, a mystery wrasse, and a small sixline. He's been a model citizen.
