Which carbon brand do you use in your sps tanks?

Considering buying the bulk reef supply carbon, dont know if the lignite is good enough or go with the premium ROX 0.8.

Just wanted to know what you pros out there are using or would recommend.

Thanks
Eric

i use the lignite from BRS and use in a dual chamber reactor. i change 1 stage every other week so i change out one every week. probably overkill but my water is super crystal clear and have no problems. many of the people in out local reef club prefer the ROX 0.8 because it last longer but lignite works just fine. you just have to rinse it good before use

I use the cheaper BRS stuff. Vodka dosing clogs it pretty easily though, so I'm thinking of switching to the more expensive pellet type stuff from BRS.

chemipure elite is all i use, though when the 200g is up and runnin i'll be making my own bags of carbon and ferric oxide to put in my sump

BRS ROX 0.8 & Black Magic Super Activated Carbon are my favorite two choices. The BRS ROX 0.8 I use for more of a polishing carbon, whereas I run the Black Magic 24/7. I did do an extensive search for the best carbon a year+ ago and found that Black Magic, TLF Hydrocarbon & BRS ROX 0.8 were some of the top performers. Generally it was stated that the pellet type carbon limited the surface area and was poor performers. This has not been shown to be completely correct as the ROX0.8 stuff is mechanical pencil lead-sized portions and ranked high. For the $ though, the Black Magic and BRS lignite & bitumous carbons seem to do the trick just fine.

I use Petco brand, the pellet stuff they sell... Requires minmal rinsing, great stuff... And its cheap...

seachem matrix. the spherical shape is tailor made for reactor use. nothing falls below (even without sponge), no channeling, little dust. suppose to be pretty good too (just behind the lignites:TLF/BRS lignite but without the excessive dustiness). only thing I dont like is the price but being carbon its still cheap just not comparatively so.

I use Black Diamond. I've been using it on regular basis for past 2 years. It does the job and is cheap.
