I'm getting ready to set up a 48"*96"*15"h mixed reef. I already have a crocea and plan on a squamosa and a derasa. But what I want to know is if I can have a gigas? I know I have the light, just not sure of the space.
Are you refering to my two 400w Iwasaki's? I'll use those and 2 250w xm 20k's. If I don't like the color I may add a couple 250w radiums. Is that alot? I thought it was about right once they are far enough off the water to cover the tank.
You're going to likely want more than that since MH only cover a 2 foot spread and your tank is 4 feet deep. If you follow the 2 foot rule you'll want 8 MH bulbs.
I have a gigas in a twenty long. I think you can house them quite well for a while. They do grow fast but you would have a while before it would be an issue. Watch out with the MH's though, they can take it just don't put him directly under it.
